CHRiS CARDi Presents "POLITICS UNUSUAL" Exhibit by Rohaun

Eventbrite RSVP

THE EVENT:

Politics Unusual is a collection of political and social commentary works by Rohaun curated by Chris Cardi. The pieces target America’s long standing social inequalities, it’s hope for a better tomorrow, as well as the characters playing a role in our current political theatre. The collection features portraits as well as caricatures that push the envelop in the age of extreme political correctness and cancel culture.

Join us for an art talk, political discussion, and a candid conversation about all the things our parent’s told us we shouldn’t discuss in public, hosted by The Bruce Allen. Bruce Allen, the man behind the That’s The Angle podcastwill moderate the discussion, take questions from the audience, and bring his audacious approach of interviewing which has become his signature.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Rohaun is an emerging D.C. based artist working in various media of acrylic, oil paint, sculpture, and now film. Some of Rohaun’s most recent work delves into the lives of everyday people through his series “Portriats for the Culture”, and more social commentary with his vibrant colored milk carton series titled “Missing”. He has recently been named a 202 Creates, artist in residency. Rohaun’s works will also be available for purchase.

Opening reception sounds provided by The Vintographer.

CHRIS CARDI INC. PRESENTS THE SUNDAY FUNDAY JENGA JAM AT H STREET COUNTRY CLUB

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Chris Cardi Inc. presents the Sunday Funday Jenga Jam at H Street Country Club, in partnership with the GrantEd Foundation.

Our interactive fundraiser style pop-up celebrates the release of this year's CHRiS CARDi INC. H Street NE capsule collection, while benefiting educators and students in our area through the GrantEd Foundation/Taste of H Street initiative.

MORE ON OUR PARTNER:
GrantEd Foundation was founded as the vehicle to ensure that teachers would no longer have to spend their own money to keep their classrooms adequately supplied, to provide out-of-classroom experiences for their students, or to access the professional development necessary to keep DC classrooms current and effective. We stay focused on this singular purpose, certain that this simple and efficient model that puts educational philanthropic dollars directly into the hands of teachers will revolutionize how communities support their schools.

HOW OUR EVENTS HELP:
Our goal is to raise a minimum of $400 dollars leading up to and during the Sunday Funday Jenga Jam. Competitors participating in the Jenga tournament will pay a $20 player’s registration fee to compete, all of which will be donated to the GrantEd Foundation. Participants will receive a gift bag filled with H Street NE goodies, including this year’s H ST. NE cap, button set, stickers, and more just for entering the competition. The winner of the tournament will receive a designer CHRiS CARDi Traveler Bag, H Street NE t-shirt, complimentary tickets to GrantEd Foundation’s Taste Of H Street event in November, and more. Grand prizes totaling more than $400!

THE JENGA TOURNAMENT:
The event style pop-up will encompass a 16 seed jenga tournament that will promptly start at 5:30pm, on the street level of H Street Country Club. Tournament participants will compete not only against one another but also against the clock for the grand prize. Spectators can enjoy the tournament competition, fun & games, dining, drinks, televised sports, and shop or H Street NE capsule collection. All of the tournament fees, as well as a portion of the sales from the CHRiS CARDi pop-up shop will be donated to the GrantEd Foundation.

Jenga Tournament limited to 16 participants, we encourage early registration if you want to compete. Tournament registration fee required to be eligible for tournament participation and prize(s). Tournament rules will be emailed, posted on our website blog (www.chriscardi.com), and available at check-in the day of the event. Spectators are also welcome to donate, as every little bit helps.

TOURNAMENT RULES:
The tournament will consist of 3-4 rounds based on total number of competitors. Rounds are titled as such, general competition (if needed), preliminary, semi-final, and final championship round.

There will be a max of 16 seeds in competition. In the event of having an odd number of competitors in any round, the first name drawn at random will receive a bye for that round of the tournament. Any sequential rounds resulting in an odd number of competitors will be dealt with in the same manner.

Player match ups will be selected at random and announced at time of competition.

The general competition, preliminary rounds, and semi-finals will have a block clock. The block clock will give competitors 35 seconds to select, pull, and place a block. The clock resets for the opponent as soon at the pulled block is placed. Violation of the block clock results in an immediate forfeiture.

There will be no block clock for the final championship round.

NOW LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

THE POP-UP:
Early arrival highly encouraged to get first dibs on the limited edition merchandise at the pop-up shop. Our full collection of t-shirts, apparel, accessories and more will be available for purchase. A portion of our CHRiS CARDi merch sales will be donated to the GrantEd Foundation. RSVP not required to attend, but highly suggested to be registered for 10% discount on purchases at the event. The second installation titled |Of Sights Unseen| Series of Black & White Matter is movingly expressed below.

In the dawn of an era that relies heavily on the functionality of social media, we find ourselves in the midst of a post-millennial Renaissance. We, individuals with innate attraction to all that is beautiful are witnessing the resurgence of mastery in the arts, sciences, and spirituality with a direct emphasis on spiritual enlightenment. The idea of expression has become synonymous with the concept of freedom. Inspiration is now parallel with discovery and creation has become priority. This emotion-filled series communicates the importance of human to human interaction and captures the essence of raw emotion.

2nd ANNUAL H STREET EVE CHRiS CARDi POP-UP AT SMITH COMMONS "PART DEUX"

1245 H Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002
Friday, October 12, 2018
6:00pm – 11:00 PM

We here at Chris Cardi Inc. are excited to announce H Street Eve Pop-Up Part Deux! We're partnering once again with H St. NE Corridor's favorite neighborhood bistro, Smith Commons Public House, for our new date Friday, October 12, the evening before H Street Festival.

H Street Eve came about in 2017 when D.C. based designer Chris Cardi decided to create and showcase a capsule collection of H Street N.E. centric apparel. As a resident of the neighborhood for the last 7 years he wanted to fill the void and provide a product his fellow neighbors could wear to show their shared love of the place they call home. The event has evolved to serve as a night of camaraderie + creativity + culture + community gathering residents and friends from all over the city in a sublime celebration the night before the big H Street Festival.

As many of us already know, this year's H Street Festival had to be rescheduled due to the threat of Hurricane Florence. For the first time the festival will take place in Mid-October to celebrate the arts as an economic vehicle for growth in this vibrant Washington, D.C. Northeast community.  Despite the threat of the hurricane, Chris Cardi Inc. kept the original H Street Eve date which turned out to be a festive evening with many items selling out quickly. This has presented Chris Cardi Inc. with a unique opportunity to serve the community with the H Street Eve Pop Up for a second time this year.

Join us, as well as other DC creatives, tastemakers, influencers, and neighbors Friday, October 12th, at Smith Commons from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M. on the 2nd level, to shop the H Street pop-up collection while enjoying drinks, dining, good people and a great time. The pop-up will feature an assortment of Chris Cardi Inc.'s H Street themed capsule collection including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats, totes, accessories and much more.

"Part Deux" of the celebration returns with a photo exhibit by featured photographer Lawrence Jackson along with vintage streetwear purveyor and stylist Shareef Mohammed.

Lawrence Jackson (The Vintographer) of The Vintage Vandalism, Chicago native and D.C. resident, will be showcasing an amazing photography installment of his newest project titled "L'Union à Motifs" (The Patterned Union). The Vintographer, whose work has been featured by Afro Punk in 2015 and 2016, will also host a Q&A session about the exhibit for early RSVPs the first hour of the event.

Shareef Mohammed of Trezo Beach will showcase a special collaborative collection of one off vintage finds customized by Chris Cardi featuring various H Street themed graphics, prints, appliqués and patches. These rare pieces are sure to sell out early.

Come get stylish for the festival and join us for a night of great fun. We hope to see you there!
